This poor chap had a bit of bad luck. Based on the swell direction looks like he should have cut right instead of left… This took place sometime during the competition. The Santa Cruz surf fest site has posted from all heats here. Individual Heat Results are also contained there. It looked like the men’s HP and IC categories were chock full of the best of the best hat’s off of all the competitors. Winner from HP Mens Galen Licht of Santa Cruz [...] Day 2 of the surf comp shows a bit more HP both men’s and women’s, more Waveski action and a bit of the stand up paddle surfing. The stand-up paddle surfing looked a little less than impressive, probably based on the wave size and where they were surfing, which was way inside [...] The festival Youtube Channel has posted some video of the first day highlights, heats, and winners. The heat winners and placements are within the videos. Our man Sean Morley placed 7th in the Men’s High Performance Category. Way to go Sean! It was a really tough competition with a lot of [...] Check out Sean Watson’s Picasa Gallery of the Surf Comp, it looks like they had some totally decent waves for the IC and Waveski heats. I forgot to mention from my Santa Cruz trip earlier this month that I also met Buck Johnson who will be competing in the contest in both HP and the IC class. Here is some video from Buck of the surf [...] I’ve written a few articles before on how state of mind affects success within paddling. This applies to life in general. If you can picture what your goal is, you are far more likely to achieve it. If your mental state is bent on fear and failure, the outcome is already defined. [...] I had a chance to paddle John Fleming’s hot new P&H Cetus LV. I had fallen out of love with most of P&H’s line after selling my Quest some years ago. Their lineup was bloated with a lot of big, high volume craft that didn’t excel in any given area. I was concerned [...] |
