Missing Kayaker on South Coast of Australia

David Scheen sounds like my kind of crazy. I really hope he is sitting warm and dry in a pub somewhere, but four days is a long time to be lost at sea. Check out the full news story about David from the The Standard Australian newspaper.

For paddlers like me who will not give up the ghost as autumn continues to roll in, remember three simple rules. (of course these are not all of them, but they are good ones).

1. Use the buddy system where possible
2. Dress for immersion
3. No one knows you are a kayak ninja when you’re dead. In other words have a float plan and tell someone on land about it.
