Paddling in Current Kayak Class

This class is postponed until May 15th, Scheduling conflict with Lee’s Polar Bear Paddle.
We’ve added an outdoor kayak classes for this upcoming week. This sunday, March 27th 2011 at 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Mayors Riverfront Park Dowtown Kalamazoo, right near Kings stadium, we will host our first paddling in current class. This class will be held on the Kalamazoo River, which is still quite cold, so dress warmly.

We plan to paddle downtown Kalamazoo and use existing current and river features to teach the basics of using moving water features.

Topics for this paddling in current class will include:

  1. Breaking in and out of current lines
  2. Ferry gliding across the river
  3. Using current features for positioning, turns
  4. Reading the water for swift water, eddies, and hazards

This class is designed to get you confidently using river features to negotiate Michigan’s rivers with ease. Nothing better than being able to put your kayak where you want it, when you want it.

Cost for this class is $20.00.

Please dress warmly and bring something to change into in the event of a swim.
